CARLOS AGUILAR

Carlos Puac-Aguilar died three days after Christmas trying to keep intruders from breaking into his house.

The 18-year old and his roommate were at home during the afternoon of Tuesday, December 28, 2004, when two men barged into the house at 425 East 16th Street.

Aguilar's roommate, Arsenio Tomas, told investigators it was just before 3:30pm when they heard a commotion outside the front door. Aguilar ran to the door and tried holding it shut. As Tomas ran out the back door he heard two gunshots.
Investigators say it appears the gunmen did make it inside the house, shot Aguilar in the chest, and then left without taking anything.

Aguilar then went out the back door of the house and collapsed in the yard, where he died.

The suspects are described as two black men, in their twenties. One was tall, between 6-foot and 6-foot-3, with light skin, a skinny build and braided hair. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with red sleeves, gray pants and tennis shoes. He was seen running south on Washington Street. The second suspect, described only as shorter than the first, ran out the rear of the house and was seen heading towards Adams Street.

Original Investigating Agency: Chattanooga Police Department
