Robert W. Black, Sgt. 1st Class, retired, died on Wednesday, July 11, 2007, in a local hospital. He was 77.
Black's death was the result of injuries he suffered during an assault and robbery that occurred two months prior on May 9, 2007, on Orton Street.
Black was a native of Chattanooga and served his country in the U.S. Army for more than 26 years. He saw action in WWII, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam.
