ARLISS EADY

Picture
49-year old Arliss Eady was ambushed on Halloween 1996.

A known numbers runner, Eady and his brother went to 703 Larkin Avenue to pick up a package. It was around 8:30 that night, shortly after trick-or-treaters passed through the normally quiet neighborhood.

As his brother waited in the car, Eady went to the front door of the house, picked up the package and turned to leave. As he stepped off the front porch, Eady was surprised by three masked men, who had been hiding along the sides of the house.

When Eady realized he was being robbed, he tried to run. One of the suspects shot him in the back and stomach.

Detectives believe Eady recognized one of the attackers, but they have been unable to confirm identities of the masked men.

After the shooting, the suspects ran to a car parked about a block away from the murder scene.

Investigators believe the suspects in Eady's death may also be linked to the 1996 unsolved murder of Lester Wellington and the 1991 murder of Joseph Jackson.

Original Investigating Agency: Chattanooga Police Department
