WILLIE GARTH
Around 8:30 in the morning on October 10, 2003, 43-year old Willie Garth had just dropped off his son at school and returned to his home at 1708 East 13th Street.
Garth was not expecting anyone to be there but someone was inside the house laying in wait. Within minutes, Garth called 911 to report he had been robbed and shot. Firefighters who responded to the call had to break through a front window to get into the house. Inside they found Garth laying on the floor. He'd been shot in the stomach and died a few hours later at a hospital. |
At the crime scene, investigators discovered signs of struggle and the house looked ransacked.
Garth's friends told detectives he had been selling marijuana out of his house and car, making him a target for robbers.
Two weeks before the murder, a neighbor saw two men trying to break into Garth's house. Detectives believe it's possible those men are responsible for Garth's murder.
