SAMUEL LEE HARRIS

It was early Saturday morning, September 24, 1988, when a truck driver topping the ridge cut on I-24 at Missionary Ridge saw a man lying dead on the shoulder of the road.

The body of 25-year old Samuel Lee Harris was found almost nude. His hands and feet were bound and Harris had been gagged.

Harris had been thrown from the South Seminole Street overpass. The medical examiner ruled Harris had been beaten before his death. But the impact of the 40-foot fall is what killed him.

Detectives were able to trace Harris' whereabouts the night he was killed. He was involved in a fight at a nightclub on Main Street. He left the club and was later kidnapped from 14th Street.

Original Investigating Agency: Chattanooga Police Department
