KATHY LYNN SIMS POSEY
Kathy Posey Sims was 23-years old when she disappeared during the summer of 1979. At the time of her disappearance, Kathy was sharing a home with two other women at McGarrity Trailer Park in Soddy Daisy.
The first week of July 1979, her roommates contacted Kathy's mom to let her know they hadn't seen or heard from Kathy in more than a week. Her mom filed a missing persons report with the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office. Investigators began questioning those who knew the woman and slowly picked up information that pointed to the possibility Kathy had been killed and her body dumped on a mountain in the area around Chattanooga. More than two years later, in November of 1981, Kathy Sims' skull was found in a ditch atop Sand Mountain in Dade County, Georgia. UPDATE: The Cold Case Unit has determined it is most likely Kathy was killed in Dade County, GA, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is taking the lead on this case. We will continue to assist the GBI as needed to help bring this case to resolution. |
